It has been an absolute pleasure.

From Austria (D.1920) to Portugal (D.1960)
When I first arrived in Lisbon for my one-month exchange, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I was excited, nervous, and full of curiosity. What followed was one of the most special experiences of my life.
First of all, my host family has been nothing but kind and welcoming. They treated me like family right from the beginning which has made my stay very enjoyable.
Moreover, I have to say that my experiences at the Unique-Smile-Clinic, with Dr. João Costa, and Dra. Cristina Marques, have been amazing. I got to witness a wide variety of procedures, from simple teeth cleanings to complex surgeries, which obviously was incredibly interesting to watch. Observing different treatment approaches broadened my understanding of international dental practices. Furthermore, I got to spend an afternoon at the Silhuetta Clinic, where I got to see all of their different treatment options.
However, the most important and most enriching experiences have been with all the people that I met during my time in Lisbon. They have all welcomed me as if they had known me a long time and that felt truly special. I am beyond grateful for the friendships I have made and the people I will always look forward to when I go to Portugal.
This entire exchange has been extremely rewarding - both professionally and personally. I improved my knowledge in dentistry, language skills and made unforgettable memories. I had to step out of my comfort zone, try new things and fully give in to this experience, which has truly changed me for the better.
I am beyond grateful to Rotary Districts 1920-Austria and 1960-Portugal, and specially Rotary Club Cascais Estoril for hosting me, and all the people, who made this exchange possible. It has been an absolute pleasure.
